Description | The Festival of Youth was arranged in aid of King George's Jubilee Trust (established in 1935 and devoted to the welfare of the 'rising generation') by The British Sports and Games Association in conjunction with The Central Council of Recreative Physical Training and Wembley Stadium Ltd. 10,000 young people took part in the Festival as representatives of their organisations, including representatives from the Women's League of Health and Beauty, Boy Scouts Association, Dalcroze Society and the Greek Dance Association. The festival included demonstrations of gymnastics, dancing, team games and keep fit.
This is a programme for the first festival including a newspaper cutting showing the King and Queen. The programme also includes a leaflet with the words for You Who Are Young by Horace Shipp; and a letter of thanks for participating to Ginner from the Chairman of The British Sports and Games Association dated July 1937. |
