| Description | Rehearsals and performances of reconstructions done by Bettina Vernon and Evelyn Ippen at the University of Surrey for Carol Brown's MA dissertation. The three works on this video are: Slavonic Dance (Bodenwieser), danced by Carol Brown; Demon Machine (Bodenwieser), danced by Carol Brown, Margarita Andreou, Sara Porter, Sophia Preston and Christopher Ugolo; and Death and the Maiden (Vernon and Ippen), danced by Carol Brown (maiden) and Michele Quinton Hunt (death). The video proceeds in the following order: 1) run-through of Death and the Maiden; Vernon and Ippen demonstrate section one of Death and the Maiden twice; Death and the Maiden in performance; Slavonic Dance in performance; Vernon teaching Brown her part from Death and the Maiden. 2) Death and the Maiden rehearsal; Vernon teaching Brown her part from Death and the Maiden; run-through of Death and the Maiden; performance of Death and the Maiden; performance of Demon Machine. 3) Run-through of Death and the Maiden; Vernon and Ippen teaching Brown Slavonic Dance section by section; Vernon teaching Brown Bodenwieser exercises; run-through of Slavonic Dance. |
