Description | Rehearsals of reconstructions done by Bettina Vernon and Evelyn Ippen for the study day 'Viennese School of Free Expressive Dance: Grete Wiesenthal and Gertrud Bodenwieser', held at the Institut Francais, London, on 24 April 1993. The study day presented Wiesenthal's Wein, Weib und Gesang (Wine Women and Song); two Bodenwieser dances, Mermaid and Sphinx; and two piano solos of music by Johann Strauss (Tritsch-Tratsch Polka and Tales from the Vienna Woods). Marieluise Jaska of the Vienna State Opera Ballet performs the dances; the pianist is Dr Leslie Moorhouse.
