Date[1800s-1900s?]
Extent2 items
DescriptionGreen leather writing portfolio used by E. H. Shepard: the leather portfolio, which is lined with bottle green moire fabric, has two small and one large pocket on the left, and a gusseted pocket on the right. There is also a piece of green moire fabric with two pieces of card on one side that folds to fit the portfolio; these pieces of card contain notes and random jottings in Shepard's handwriting. It is unclear how the fabric relates to the portfolio.
Physical DescriptionThe portfolio is in extremely poor condition: the leather at the spine has deteriorated badly and has mostly flaked off; the fabric is coming loose from the card insert; and the inside is badly scratched and worn.
