Lucas [PUNCH writer and chairman of Methuen, 1924-1938, who was responsible for the Shepard-Milne collaboration and wrote a variety of books illustrated by Shepard, including PLAYTIME AND COMPANY, A BOOK OF CHILDREN'S VERSE, MR. PUNCH'S COUNTY SONGS, and AS THE BEE SUCKS]; Owen Seaman [editor of PUNCH, 1906-1932]; F.C. Burnand [editor, 1880-1906]; Bernard Partridge [chief cartoonist beginning in 1901]; Alan Herbert [writer]; Norman Mansbridge [who joined the PUNCH table in 1958]; George L. Stampa [a cartoonist, who was a contemporary or near-contemporary of Shepard's at Heatherley's and the Royal Academy Schools]; and Peter Agnew [managing director]. Also includes a 90th birthday card from the PUNCH editorial table. Two of Stampa's letters have ink sketches: one of a crying baby's head [coloured with red crayon], the other of a boy eating an apple and a man sitting on a pile of apples.
Physical DescriptionSeaman's handwriting is extremely difficult to read.
