Annotated drawings include: "Saturday night whos [sic] got the key" (humorous cartoon of [himself and his studiomate?] with groceries); "Brown should look where he is going" [for TOM BROWN'S SCHOOLDAYS?]; "Fancy Maid V" [a cow, used repeatedly in later works]; "Greenwich Sept 13th 1901" (a pencil sketch of police officers or firemen); a technically oriented drawing of an artillery piece; "Robert Taber Novr 15th 1902"; "Constance Collier Nov 15/02"; "Mr Beerbohm Tree Nov. 15 /02".
