DescriptionBlack-and-white aerial photographs of the front lines in Italy, showing trenches, roads, buildings, villages, and shellholes. All but two are marked [in ink on the negative?] with [map and/or place references?], altitude [at which the photograph was taken?], the orientation of north, and the date. Some are annotated with place information, such as the names and locations of villages, buildings, rivers, or map designations of strategic points. One of the other photographs is mounted, labelled "The Asiago Plateau, ITALY" in Shepard's handwriting on the front, and annotated in pencil on the back with a detailed description in Shepard's handwriting. The remaining photograph is a panorama of a mountainous landscape with landmarks noted in print on the photograph itself. There is a panel at the lower left that identifies it as copy number 44 of panorama 26, taken from Cima di Fonte.
