It is signed in ink, lower right and the caption is written in pencil in Shepard's handwriting, lower left. According to a letter from Vivian Wyatt dated 20 May 2004, it depicts a US 155mm M1/M2 "Long Tom" gun [which first saw combat in 1943]. |
