Extent1 black and white photograph
Name of CreatorP. Norman Button
DescriptionPhotograph taken outside from the middle of an open muddy space, looking towards some of the university buildings which are being constructed further in the distance. In the foreground, nearest the photographer is a large fencepost lying on the ground. A little further long, still in the muddy space, is a collection of random wooden posts/ boards which lie at the bottom of a handrail. The handrail leads up to a raised bank where there is a row of white wooden temporary huts and just to the left of these are piles of wooden planks and other piles of short strips of scaffolding tubing. Directly behind this is a large, bare branched tree, followed by a row of shorter trees making a border and then behind this again is Guildford Catherdral (on higher ground than the trees and huts). On the right of the row of wooden huts is a free standing scaffolding structure with lights attached at the top. Downhill, to the right of this structure, are some mounds of earth and a small crane with its arm extended diagonally up and to the left. It has 'RICHARDS WALLINGTON' in print across it. On the right of this is a small minibus/ van. Further into the background there are two buildings under construction with scaffolding around them and some workers on the top, and another building (also still under construction) across a space, on the left from the two buildings. In the space between the two buildings is a taller crane, with its arm pointing to the left. About five workers can be seen dotted under the crane
