Description"The ceremonial entrance to the university." is recorded on the back. In the foreground on the right hand side, Senate House is still under construction with some of the windows in place. Scaffolding is up near the lower staircase where the outer layer of bricks are being laid. Bricks have also been finished around the end tower on the left in this picture. In front of Senate House is a muddy and wet track, piles of earth/ rubble and stacks of bricks. Further back, behind Senate House, is a row of temporary huts (white), one with a small cross on. Behind these is Guildford cathedral. There is also a freestanding scaffolding structure on the left hand side with lights attached, a small crane and some trees. Cardboard mounted photograph.
