Extent1 black and white photograph

DescriptionPhotograph taken outside looking down over a scaffolding railing, onto an open and muddy construction site below and further back to the left hand side, Senate House (which has much of its outer building work complete with most windows installed though the lower level is still open with its wide staircase visible). Just below the photographer, on a muddy bank sloping downhill, are many large stacks of bricks, some of which have large sheets/ material draped over them. There is also material draped over the left hand part of the scaffolding rail in view below the photographer and some broken bricks on a low wall just to the right. A road snakes diagonally past the nearest stacks of bricks, from the left hand side, turns a bend and changes angle slightly to cut across to the right hand side of the photo. Two vehicles are parked on this road, one (with 'LEYLAND' printed on it) and another towards the far right hand side of the road. On the left hand side of the photo, before Senate House, is a row of white wooden temporary huts/ cabins and further behind this is Senate House. On the right hand side, between the Leyland car and the scaffolding rail is a building with some workers next to it. It is a small building and has no roof - only three walls on one level. There are some bare branched trees behind the road; a fire has been lit not far from one of these trees, and white billows of smoke are coming from it. In the background there is a misty view of part of Guildford.
