DescriptionPhoto taken from a wide space of muddy ground - in the foreground is a road which curves round left to right and in the middle of the photo is the space for a building which has some initial foundations underway. The heads of two site workers are visible in the right hand foreground, one wearing a hard hat and the other not. Two large banks of earth have been created where a section of the ground has been cut into to create the start of some building foundations; a large but short, light coloured pillar is visible on the left of one of these banks, and tall strips of material line the back and sides of a square section behind. In front of the light coloured pillar and slightly to the left is a transit/ piece of surveying equipment on a tripod, beneath the legs of which lies a long thin pole. In front of the transit, are some stacked metal/ wire mesh lengths which sit on top of a long rubber tube. The tube has one end descending into the ditch where the building foundations are and the other is lying in the road, the end facing the photographer. Up on the raised bank on the left is a mound of material and some scraps of wood; on the raised bank on the right is a hollow cylindrical shape. Behind this building foundation space, the Robert Boyle building is in a very early stage of construction, with its structural pillars marked out. A small boom style crane is on the right of this (ARUP printed on its side), with the arm up over the Robert Boyle pillars. Further back on the right are some white wooden temporary huts/ cabins, and more university buildings with a tower crane and another boom crane. Behind the central building and Robert Boyle building, centrally placed, are two large deciduous trees, a parked truck, two long walls and piles of wooden sheets. To the left is another open muddy construction space, with a couple of small white sheds in. A group of workers stand on the left hand side, uphill. There is a row of trees along the top of a field in the background, on the left and Guildford Cathedral can be seen in the background, atop a hill.
