TitleScrapbook relating to A K Dyer
Date1896-1915
DescriptionContaining programmes, newspaper clippings (reviews) and leaflets relating to Ruby Ginner's husband Alexander K Dyers' acting career. The first programme is for the West London Dramatic Club's "A Bunch of Violets" in which Dyer played Lord Mount-Sorrel which was performed at Ladbroke Hall in Notting Hill on Saturday 27 November 1897 and is accompanied by a review. There are reviews of performances mentioning Dyer by several companies: the Hampstead Dramatic Society, The Robertson Dramatic Club, Mrs Archie Keen's Amateur Dramatic Co., and The Forbes-Robertson Dramatic Club; there is also a letter of congratulations from Wellesley Forbes (the director of one of the above), a small black and white photograph possibly of the cast of a theatre company, and a handwritten and typed account of The Harikiri. The last programme in the book is for a performance of 'The Witness for the Defence' by The "Baltic" Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society in which Dyer played Henry Thresk at the Royal Court Theatre on 5-7 December 1912. A folder of loose material contains more theatre programmes and newspaper clippings and a letter dated 2 July 1914 from a scenic artist regarding the hire of rostrums for 'Miss Ginner's Matinee'. The book has blank pages towards the back.
