DescriptionCostume for 'The Moth (Prelude)' consisting of a dress and a headdress.
The Moth was danced to music by Debussy 'Pour le piano', this was a solo danced by Madge Atkinson but composed for her by Annea Spong between approximately 1912-1915.

Atkinson performed the dance at the Studio in Manchester in May 1919 and at the Gaiety Theatre 7-12 March 1921 in a programme of Historical and Poetical Dances. It was also performed in 'The Fourth Annual Sunshine Matinee, The Winter Garden Theatre, London' 28 November 1922.

There is a small illustration, signed by Grimmond, of the costume in the souvenir book The Beauty of Movement. The book also contains a Moth poem by L Stanley Jast.
