HistoryGraham Shepard was born to Ernest Howard Shepard and Florence Eleanor Shepard on 7 July 1907. He studied at Oxford and later worked at The Illustrated London News for Bruce Ingram. In October 1931 Graham married Ann Gibbon from Montreal, Canada at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford. On 22 April 1937 Ann gave birth to a daughter. She was named Harriet but was known as Minette throughout her life. She was christened at St Martha's-on-the-Hill on Saturday 26 June 1937.

His parents also referred to him by the nicknames 'Baba' and 'Frog'

In June 1940 Graham Shepard received a commission as Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and was sent to Hove for training. Graham Shepard was on board HMS Polyanthus in 1943 when it was attacked while on convoy duty in the Atlantic and sunk with all hands.
