DescriptionE H Shepard writes that he is glad that Florence has Elsie to work on the garden, and he asks her not to try and do all the work herself. He says that he wishes that it was time for him to take leave. He comments on the weather and says whilst sitting outside the night before, he felt as if Florence was watching him, and he always tries to look over to her direction.

He tells Florence that they have received another two officers, called Moss and Tempest, and he hopes that it means that he will be able to go on leave.

He tells Florence that he keeps looking at his family in the photographs that she sent, especially Florence
