TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date7 Sep 1917
Extent4 papers
DescriptionE H Shepard says that he is writing the letter wilst sitting on the bank near their little tunnel and he describes the local scenery including the local village. He says that it is only when you get to the village that you realise that everything is hollow and most of the houses are roofless. He says that he is disturbed about Sara and says that he will send some money to Florence so that she can pay for someone to help her, particularly until Graham goes away. He discusses his family's trip to Chideock and compares the scenery with where he is stationed.

He discusses school fees for Graham and Mary Shepard and ways that he will try and raise the money. He says that he thought he might have been home by the time it came for Graham to go to school, but there is now such a short amount of time. He notes how long it has been since he has been able to spend longer than a few days with his children, and he hope that 'Baba' and 'Puss' won't forget him. He promises to write to her diligently, as he is worried that she will be disappointed to see him when he returns without jewelled decorations and a large sword
