In the performance Mother Goose was the story teller who recounted stories such as Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Laideronette. Laideronette was a fairy story about an apparently ugly girl who was imprisoned by her parents in a castle; she managed to escape and met and fell in love with a green serpent and, after many adventures together, the serpent magically became a handsome prince and Laideronette a beautiful young princess.
