Extent1 pleated silver and black satin dress
DescriptionDress for The Moth.
The dress is made from silver (front) and black (at the back) satin material and is pleated so when in movement it gives the impression that the dancer has wings. There are elastic straps inside at the shoulders and the neck line is gathered. There are two weights sewn into the front hem.

It is the costume for 'The Moth (Prelude)'. The Moth was danced to music by Debussy 'Pour le piano', this was a solo for Madge Atkinson by Anne Spong.

There is a small illustration, signed by Grimmond, of the costume in the souvenir book The Beauty of Movement. The book also contains a Moth poem by L Stanley Jast.
