DescriptionTwo identical programmes for a lecture demonstration titled The Art of the Greek Dance in Modern Education featuring Nancy Sherwood with Joan Towle at the piano. The event was in two parts; part one: Introductory lecture, demonstration of Fundamental Exercises for the attainment of general mobility and control, basic steps and ball dances, exercises for balance and poise, relaxation and strength, studies from nature a. Sea Rhythms and b. Tree destroyed by Fire, demonstration of class work by children; Part two: Introduction, The Hellenic Games - mimetic representation in dance form of a hurling the javelin b. archery c. throwing the diskus d. racing and leaping, the pyrrhic dance - a Spartan warrior, a funeral rite, a vintage dance, the spirit of a white iris, musical interpretations. One of the programmes has a handwritten date on which could be 1952; also a letter to Miss Ginner congratulating her on the demonstration 'last week' and a letter from the publishers Newman Neame thanking Ginner for providing such good seats for the evening.
