Florence writes that she has been for "a lovely picnic" with Pip [Pip Gossage] and Mel [sp.?], away "in the woods near Ewehurst somewhere". Florence writes that it has been "such a perfect day", and that "Fred" [?] and the children have been "awfully happy". Florence writes that she only had a little card form E H Shepard, and that she is afraid that it means that he is "getting quite up to the front"; Florence writes that she will be glad to see him safe again. Florence asks E H Shepard to "be as safe as you decently can". Florence writes that she never knows if her letters will reach E H Shepard.
Florence writes that she is glad that E H Shepard is with Bruce [?]. Florence writes that the "study" [sp.?] is finished and "looks so nice". Florence signs off with the nickname "Pie".
