Envelope postmarked 1 July 1916 and addressed to E H Shepard at 105 Siege Battery, R.G.A. British Expeditionary Force, France. Paper headed with "1st July, abts [sp.?] breakfast" [Handwritten]. Florence writes that she does not want E H Shepard to be "a lonesome little chap". She writes that "it must be wretched though when you're so tired + [and] it always rains + [and] you're wet and dirty, but that's just the time Monty thinks of you most". Florence writes that the weather has improved, and she hopes that the weather has improved for E H Shepard as well. Florence writes that she dreamt of E H Shepard "again". Florence writes that she is going to teach a lesson. Florence makes an attempt to revive E H Shepard's spirits. Florence includes the nickname "Mont" in her sign off.
