Envelope postmarked 21 July 1916 and addressed to E H Shepard at 105 Siege Battery, R.G.A. British Expeditionary Force, France.
First paper headed with "Thursday 20th" [Handwritten].
Florence writes that she has "just got home from London". Florence writes that she is awaiting a letter from E H Shepard.
Florence writes that she has had tea with Rosemary; she writes that Rosemary let her read her husband's last letter, and that it was "dreadful". Florence writes that she "cried in Lyons [tearoom]" over it. Florence writes that it was "Such a letter". Florence writes that he also wrote one for E H Shepard "in case he did not return"; she notes that she has included it with her letter, but was not sure whether to send it, as she is not there to "comfort" him.
Florence writes that she is anxious as the "Germans made a big coastal [sp.?] attack".
Florence writes that she misses E H Shepard.
Florence notes that Ethel and Rosemary are visiting on Saturday.
Florence writes that she would like E H Shepard to write her "a little cosy…letter".
Third paper headed with "22nd July /16" [Handwritten].
Florence writes that she has received "two nice letters" from E H Shepard. Florence writes that she hopes that E H Shepard is comfortable in his new position "near a wood, and in a tent"; she also writes that she hopes that he soon dried out.
Florence writes that she will not send "Cyril's letter", as "it would be so sad all alone".
Florence writes of the finances. She writes that it is wonderful that "after all these years your pictures are selling + [and] just when we want the money most".
Florence writes that she has included some of her hair in with her letter.
Florence writes that she is sorry that E H Shepard has been working "all night in the pouring rain and getting no sleep hardly".
Florence signs off with the nickname "Mont".
