Florence writes that she isn't sure as to whether E H Shepard has heard "the very very sad news, about poor Uncle Dodo [Cyril Shepard?]"; she writes that he died on 1st July 1916. Florence writes that Ethel Shepard sent a wire concerning this. Florence writes that E H Shepard and Cyril [?] were "no ordinary brothers". Florence writes that she will find a few black garments if necessary, but asks hat E H Shepard "just tell me how you feel about it". Florence writes that she is unhappy that E H Shepard will have to move on, as she liked the thought of him "in that nice deep dug out". Florence signs off with the nickname "Monty".
