TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date27 Dec 1916
Extent3 papers, 1 envelope
DescriptionWritten while EHS was in the military. EHS writes that the night before he was "terribly depressed - the work is so difficult for me + seems so endless". He talks about feeling "hopelessly incompetant" and wearing a red and white staff badge "which seems to command great respect + gets me many salutes I am not entitled to". He talks about having to work long days inside with only just time for meals. EHS explains that his battery has been given rest that he will have to miss because of this role and hopes that he will not be away from his battery so long that they will replace him as he "would simply expire" if he had to join a new one. He asks FCS to send him long letters that will cheer him up.
