TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date15 May 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionEHS describes his new Burberry that has arrived. He has been at the O.P. with Morton for a bit of shooting before the rain came down. They have had another small dinner party with Cross from next door, listended to the gramophone and Dixon did his dancing again, during which they were phoned to say they had a new officer attached and they were to pick him up in the car. He has just got his commission and has been a sergeant in the Saphens. Hughes returned from town having spent most of their money on "all sorts of food things". EHS is to visit the new Colonel, he hopes he is "a decent old bird". Old Bill Bennett has definately been made an adjutant so they have lost him for good. He believes his wife will have cheered up after yesterdays news (more losses for the boche - "Chemical Works, Cavalry Farm + Bullecount"). He has written for lots of papers to be sent (Tatler, Bystander, Punch, Vie Parisienne, Nashs and The Windsor). He asks his wife to buy a couple of shirts for him as he can't find his.
