TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date16 May 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionEHS has been to interview a new Colonel at his headquarters, he is a fine chap; his adjutant is a good fellow too. He has met the orderly Officer named Lee again (he last saw him a year ago at the nice position up at the "garden" billet). He and the others were very excited to see him, and knew his Punch efforts by heart, and "Kits was rather a success". Then on to the O.P. with Hughes for some shooting. After tea they went to Crosse's again for gramaphone and noise. They have a new "Sub.", a Canadian who has been through most of the war. It is a comfort to have full numbers. EHS asks how much Cox has paid in as there should be pay for April and May now, about £35. He mentions Baba's letter. The Colonel has been to visit and seemed pleased with the "spick and span" battery.
