TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date7 May 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionEHS describes his views from the seat he is sitting in that they have dug out of a shell hole - just enough room for himself and a telephonist. "Old S." has been clamouring for a drawing and aks if his wife might manage one to appease him. He has written to Ethel and Rosemary. He is to have a football match with the pals "next door", a young bunch of officers, with an average age of 23. They have a new sub joined last night, Morton. Birchenough has reached the limit and EHS says he was wrong in suggesting he hs improved. He is writing on paper that Aunt Ellen sent him. He was pleased to hear of his wife's visit to Farley Heath and imagines they shall do the same when the war is over. Morton is from Trowbridge; he says that Herbert (?) and Maddich are still there but Mills has left. He mentions Garrett (new C.O.) has just woken up; Garrett was at Woolwich with Gossage.
