TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date8 Jun 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionIts a boiling hot day and EHS has been driven to order some thin breeches from Chappell. He is due to hold a court of inquiry at Headquarters after lunch today - "I haven't the faintest idea what to do and I am president too however". There is a band playing not far off and it was going last night too, EHS thinks the Tommies must have been dancing. Hughes was relieved late at the O.P. Ethel has sent some things (food) from Dellers and they are most welcome. The whiskey and port have also turned up. He mentions they have heard good news from the north. He has read Punch of April 18th and urges his wife to read "Jollymouse" as it's about the restaurant that Hambly and he went to and he drew the girl. He is longing to get her letter when she has heard about Crossery - he can imagine her bustling around to tell the Forsages and the Keenes. He writes "If Eagles puts anything in the parish magazine I shall shoot him!".
