TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date14 Jul 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionThey have moved quite a long way since yesterday to new billets, where EHS has his own bed with sheets. They are all in separate houses. He has been out interviewing their new colonel and choosing a battery position today. It is a "horrible dirty little town" but with a couple of good food shops. Garrett is back from leave and told them about the air raid on town, and that "people are wallowing in pessimism over the little boche show by the coast". EHS thinks the press are having a marvellous time over this, along with the air raid and Mesopotamia. EHS describes the inhabitants of the town. He has bought some nice postcards from the shop "down under", two of a girl, "she's got hands exactly like Montys so I shall keep them to trot about with me".
