TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date9 Jul 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionEHS writes that at last the "whole lot of us" are to have a rest, and have been sent to a little village. He went to headquarters and saw the general and colonel, and had a whiskey & soda, and cigar with them. They (Hambly, EHS, Hughes & Hey) got off about 3. He had a solid sleep before being woken by Hey and Hughes seeking permission to go to town. Charles has come back to them, Cowell has been taken away. Charles and Foxell, the transport officer, have gone to the village. He is hoping they are allowed to stay for a few days. He is trying to speak to French to "Madame", the lady they are staying with. He thinks the "aunts might have done their bit" and he is longing for his wife to receive the news about the extra pay.
