TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date13 Jul 1917
Extent1 paper
DescriptionEHS and the others (including Hambly, Hughes) have moved to "a delightful spot". Hambly and EHS had gone the night before to set up billets. They have made pals with the town mayor and got the best billets in the place. EHS has reduced the madame and her daughter "to compliance" with his very bad French and smile. He describes the place in detail, and the food they are eating, which is very good. They invited the mayor to eat with them, a "dreamy middle aged type". He took EHS and Hamble for a stroll to the chateau. The baron's daughters are due back tomorrow and the mayor has said he will get the men an invitation to play tennis. However, they are to move on and he won't receive any letters for a bit.
