DescriptionE H Shepard writes that the got their ASC Officer to visit their battery for dinner. He writes that it is a great event to get their ASC officer to visit as he thinks it is most daring and always wears a tin helmet and a gasmask. On a previous occassion they found that he was also wearing a patent breastplate under his tunic.

Shepard writes that he has a day off the following day and will go into town. He says that it is splendid about the French on the Aisne.

He says that he will be pleased to have a new pair of brushes as his are almost bald. He writes that he has brought his little Madonna statuette back and he hopes that he can get it home safely
