DescriptionE H Shepard writes that if his leave is postponed, he may stand more chance of getting the extra five days. He says that he can't settle to anything and feels all of a fidget. He says that he hasn't seen a newspaper for three days but they have heard rumours that the Italians are turning on the Germans. He says that if only the Russians had 'stuck it' the war would have been over by Christmas. He notes that next May he will have been in the army for two years and he automatically gets a month of leave
