TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date29 December 1917
Extent1 paper
DescriptionE H Shepard writes that he has just returned from the observation post and he says that it was prefectly lovely as all the mountains in the distance were covered with snow. Shepard says that the Italian Communique have said that the Germans tried to make a bombing raid start there on Boxing Day morning. He says that he counted 28 of them and they cam 'tumbling down like pheasants'. They managed to shoot down 10 and some of the pilots were caught. Apparently they had been celebrating Christmas too well and this was the result, but they did practically no damage. Shepard says that he wishes he had a little time to paint, but perhaps he will be able to do a sketch of the view from the observation post
