TitleLetter from E H Shepard to Florence Eleanor Shepard
Date22 December 1917
Extent1 paper, 1 envelope
DescriptionE H Shepard writes that it is snowing hard so he stayed inside and did a sketch of some Italian refugees going along a road with their household goods in a bullock cart. He describes the refugees that he has seen in Italy, and includes a pencil sketch of an Italian wooden shoe that is worn by the women. Shepard says that he spent the previous day at the observation post doing a panoramic sketch as the colonel wanted one. He writes that he will return and do a watercolour painting soon as the view is priceless. The canteen opened a few days before, and Hughes is going to fetch two turkeys and some pork as a Christmas present to the men. Shepard says that Pedro, their dog, has disappeared and he suspects that he has returned to his rightful owner
