DescriptionE H Shepard writes that he is sitting on top of a hill near their farm, after going to inspect their ammunition dump. He says that he is reminded of sunday morning at home. He writes that Hughes has gone to buy items for the canteen and has succeeded in getting a case of whiskey and six dozen bottles of bass. Shepard says that the most appalling bugs and insects are appearing with the advent of spring, and the Major has taken to sleeping out of doors to defeat the fleas
