DescriptionE H Shepard writes that he has been doing a bit of 'doctoring'. He writes that a corporal was groaning in pain and he gave him castor oil which cured him. Shepard says that it is rather funny how the men come to him when anyone is sick, and that they seem to have great faith in his efforts

Shepard writes that they have been blasting up on the hill as they are building a dug out

He says that he is glad that Elsie's baby has come and asks Florence to send her his love. He writes that it is 'utterly rotten' about Dick and that he is the last man to shirk work
