TitlePartial manuscript: on the history of PUNCH
Daten.d. [mid-late 1800s?]
Extent1 bundle (11 papers)
DescriptionManuscript written in [fading] ink giving an outline of the founding of PUNCH magazine from the perspective of a founder [it is written in the first person]. Most of the pages are numbered at the upper right, and from these numbers it is clear that there are pages missing from the manuscript. Most pages are approximately A4-sized brown paper, but the last sheet is larger and blue. The handwriting is definitely not E. H. Shepard's, and appears to be Victorian; the date "1840" appears in pencil in the upper right. Given its age, it may have been written by Ebenezer Landells, Florence Chaplin Shepard's grandfather.
Physical DescriptionThis manuscript is VERY brittle and fragile; many of the edges of pages have broken off.
