| Description | Dress for the historic dance Sarabande.
Round necked purple silk top lined with white chiffon fabric, with no sleeves. The dress has a v-shaped high waistline leading into a full skirt made from purple silk with gold silk 'petals' attached. The skirt has an underskirt of dark purple silk. The gold petals are trimmed with gold sequins and every other petal is decorated with a purple silk bunch of grapes edged in gold sequins; there are four bunches of grapes all together. The gold petals circle the dress but do not meet at the front. Some of the petals have hook and eye fastenings on.
There is a small envelope of spare items (possibly sequins) that is sewn onto the bodice of the dress. |
