TitleSurrey Matters Magazine, 1991-2009
Date1991-c.2009
Extent0.18 linear metres (2 boxes)
DescriptionAn informal magazine which until July 2001 was published every month and occasionally more frequently and was aimed at University staff and students. It replaced the former 'Newsletter' and incorporated some features of the former 'Gazette' which was an official University publication. The 'Gazette' section of 'Surrey Matters' however, was issued as a loose one or two sided single sheet within the magazine and mostly consisted of announcements of new appointments or of retirements. The rest of the content included news about the University, features about life on the campus, personalities in the news and issues of current interest.

From November 2001 issues were quarterly or more infrequent. The format of the content has been changed and the magazine now aims to communicate the academic strengths of the University to an external audience and to provide a perspective on national and international higher education issues or topical news stories which have a bearing or relevance to the University. It carries features on current research, profiles of individuals and articles on developments. It also includes cultural issues and forthcoming events likely to be of interest to external audiences.
