Administrative HistoryThe Surrey Guardian was first launched in October 1966 at fortnightly intervals and was intended to provide interesting news about all members of staff, including academic, secretarial, technical and others and about births, marriages, deaths, retirements, appointments, resignations and news from unions, clubs, societies and other groups. It was also intended to provide a forum for official and semi-official news; articles written by members of staff and also to supplement the 'Gazette' which was much more formal. The editor of the 'Surrey Advertiser,' Mr Jack Penycate was a member of the editorial board and the paper was printed by the Surrey Advertiser and County Times Ltd at their premises in Martyr Road, Guildford.
