Name of CreatorYolande Snaith Theatredance; 1986-2004; Dance company
DescriptionYolande Snaith Theatredance was founded in 1993 by artistic director and choreographer Yolande Snaith. Snaith had previously worked under the titles of Yolande Snaith and Dancers (1985-1986), Yolande Snaith & Kathy Crick (1987-1989) and Dance Quorum (1990-1992).

The archive covers the development of the company from a small scale company of two to three dancers through to a larger scale company, originally Dance Quorum (1990-1992) and later, Yolande Snaith Theatredance (1993-2004).

The archive comprises DVDs, videos and photographs of performances, as well as posters and programmes. In addition there are 49 boxes of papers which include: board papers; production files; press cutings; publicity material; records of education projects; correspondence with the Arts Council; fundraising and sponsorship records; financial records; and administrative papers

There are an additional 13 boxes of material still to be catalogued, including costumes and photographs. If you require further information about this material, please email archives@surrey.ac.uk.
ArrangementThe bulk of the collection was received in 2002, organised in boxes according to subject category by the current company managery. The company provided an explanatory list of the contents and type of material. Their original numbering system was replaced with the catalogue numbering system, but a record of this change was made. The deposit was missing a file, which the company has been informed of. A frequent turnover in administration staff resulted in an inconsistent filing system.
The company's titles for the files were retained except where spine titles of folders were incorrect to its contents. This was particularly prevalent in the Education files, some of which was production material. The Arts Council of England files were organised to follow the company's dating system. The files are best read from back to front because they were filed in that manner. Where a lever-arch file filled more than one archive folder, the sequence was added to the title (e.g. 1 of 2, 2 of 2).
