Administrative HistoryBattersea Polytechnic Students' Representative Council (originally the Battersea Polytechnic Day Students' Representative Council) was established in 1908, and acted as as the primary representative and social organisation for the student body during the early twentieth century. With the formation of the Students' Union in 1934, the Students' Representative Council became the principal organising committee of the Union. In 1937, the structure of the Council was revised to delegate the majority of business to sub-committees.
Following the adoption of a new Union constitution in 1959, the Students' Representative Council was restructured as the Students' Union Council, with a revised composition and remit.
