Administrative History | Surrey Student was first published in January 1965, and was a successor to the magazine Gazet. In contrast to its predecessor publications, Surrey Student was professionally printed and illustrated with photography. The first issue is dated 22 January 1965, and it was initially published weekly, although later volumes were published at a much-reduced frequency. Its final issue was published in June 1966; the following academic year, the first year of the University of Surrey's existence, it was replaced by the Surrey Guardian, which was a similar student-led newspaper-style publication, but which was published independently of the Students' Union. |
