DescriptionThe intent seems to be a procession in honour of Dionysus/Bacchus [probably seated on the barrel at right]; Silenoi refer to followers of Bacchus that resemble fat balding men [eventually they because one figure, his tutor, Silenus]. Annotations and/or printers' instructions [partly obscured by mount] in unknown handwriting in the margins: one [possibly in Shepard's] gives the date.
