| Description | Predominantly comprises photographs of Geraldine Stephenson performing solo dance recitals. Each recital has a "character(s)" and theme, communicated through Stephenson's gesture and costume, and there are multiple photographs of each recital "character", which mostly seems to double as the title of the performance. The performance character, with the performance title if necessary, is given within the title or description of all photographs of Stephenson's dance recitals. As well as individual photographs, there are also marked up contact sheets and proof contact sheets of the dance recital characters.
Also comprises Stephenson's copies of photographs relating to Laban and the Art of Movement Studio more generally, including group performances.
GS/2/2/41 is a scrapbook of photographs from where Stephenson's time with the Art of Movement Studio and crowd choreographing pageants overlapped, in the mid 1950s. |
