Description | In April 1939 a recording of Miss Audrey Ifor-Davies playing accompaniment to Natural Movement exercises was made to be sold privately by The Madge Atkinson School of Natural Movement. Three 10 inch, 78 rpm gramophone records (made of shellac) contain the following exercises: Skipping Steps, The Five Steps, Running and Poise, Jumping, Step & Hop Progression, Directions, Preparation for Hop Turn, Sequence Steps and Diving. In an envelope: Two letters announcing the record and how it may be purchased; a small book documenting the sale of the records and a small envelope of stamps to affix to the records when sold (copyright regulations).
The contents of the record were converted to CD audio tracks as part of the Pioneer Women: early British modern dancers project in 2010. The converted music is stored on the LM/A CD (disc 2) and consists of NM/A/1 side 1 (3.05 minutes) and side 2 (3.08 minutes). There is also a copy of the tracks on a gold CD and they are stored as WAV files on a DVD-ROM. |
