Description | Costume (hat, dress, neckpiece and flower ) for Laideronette, a character in the Mother Goose Ballet by Ravel. In the performance Mother Goose was the storyteller who recounted stories such as Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Laideronette. Laideronette was a fairy story about an apparently ugly girl who was imprisoned by her parents in a castle; she managed to escape and met and fell in love with a green serpent and, after many adventures together, the serpent magically became a handsome prince and Laideronette a beautiful young princess. The design for this costume is in the costume design book NM/N/2 |
