ArrangementChronological
Administrative HistoryThe Charter was prepared with the active collaboration of the College solicitors, Messrs Gillhams, and with the advice of Messrs Sharpe, Pritchard and Company of Westminster, a firm of parliamentary agents who had had considerable experience of the preparation and presentation of charters for a number of other universities. Teaching and non-teaching staff of the College were closely consulted and comments sought from the Association of University Teachers and the Association of Teachers in Technical Institutions and a number of important modifications, in particular to the dismissal and suspension clause (Statute 22) were made in agreement with the former. Surrey County Council was formally consulted and indicated its approval while the views of the officers of the Privy Council and of the University Grants Committee were sought informally.
